| Be SURE to grab this set if you're looking to complete the Mars Mission set. We just got this one for Easter and it's just amazing! It went together VERY easily for a six-year-old and well, the aliens are his favorite in this ship, especially since they glow in the dark! It has provided hours of fun and now he wants the rest of the set. This is one of the neatest things I think Lego has come up with for awhile and it is very well done. Highly, highly recommend! |

This was one of the first LEGO sets I ever bought for my son. At the time, he was five years old and I bought him two sets for Christmas - both Mars Mission sets. I figured if I got him a "good guy" set (LEGO® MX-41 Switch Fighter) and a "bad guy" set then he would be able to have a lot of fun playing with the two together. Boy was I right!
I put the two sets together and he absolutely loved them both and has been hooked on LEGOs ever since. Movies, games, toys - whatever the medium, the bad guys always have the coolest-looking designs, and this set is no exception. This model looks wickedly cool when assembled - probably more so than any other LEGO set I've ever purchased, and I have over 100 sets. The ship does a bit of a transformation from a saucer to a "wing-out" attack design that bears loads of laser weapons. Like I said - really, really nice-looking. The astronaut mining unit that comes with the set is just superfluous, but throwing it in with the main model is like a side order of desert.
I highly recommend this set! One of the best sets I've ever purchased, and the best in the entire LEGO Mars Mission line-up! |

| How can one go wrong with Lego's? My 11 year old has been building for 7 years already. He now prefers the 1000+ sets, but he'll build anything. If it deters him from video games for a while, I'm satisfied. When he's done displaying the sets he builds, we put them into a giant container for building unique things at a later time. Lego's are durable and last forever. My suggestion is to purchase sets based on the number of pieces, the age of the child, and how good they are with following directions. Otherwise, I guess this can also be a collector's item, but that's not our focus. |
